Nick's practice is focused on patent and intellectual property litigation. His background in Electrical Engineering has helped him litigate various intellectual property cases involving a wide range of technologies including image sensors, signal processing algorithms, wearable biometric devices, and downhole oilfield devices -- to name a few.
As a registered patent attorney, Nick has not only prosecuted patents before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, but has successfully challenged and defended patents in post-grant proceedings including Inter Partes Reviews before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. Nick also has experience in trademark and trade secret litigation, as well as in advising clients on clearance and non-infringement opinions, portfolio management, intellectual property diligence, technology license agreements, settlement agreements, and general intellectual property matters.
Before starting his legal career, Nick worked for over a decade as an electrical design and applications engineer in the semiconductor industry where he has experience designing, testing, and debugging complex integrated circuits, developing and testing gate-level algorithms, and creating and debugging code for embedded architectures. Nick's technical background and industry experience allow him to assist his clients by understanding "engineer speak," allowing him to take more effective depositions and efficiently prepare clients and experts for depositions.
Nick's hobbies and interests include supporting local theater, opera, symphony, and other live music performances. Nick is also a private pilot and enjoys flying when he gets the chance. However, Nick's most enjoyable hobby is spending time with his family, including teaching piano to his two young boys.
