Ken’s practice is focused primarily on high stakes intellectual property lawsuits and complex commercial litigation. He has successfully prosecuted and defended numerous clients in patent, trade secret, trademark, copyright, contract, fraud, and other complex commercial lawsuits. Ken’s practice also includes other, less traditional intellectual property related cases. Notable trials include representation of a sauna company against numerous competitors in a multi-count complex commercial litigation that resulted in the first known reported corporate defamation verdict in state history and the successful defense of a patent-prosecution law firm for legal malpractice.
Ken was formerly a shareholder at McDole Williams, where he was one of the lead attorneys in that firm’s intellectual property litigation section and was Of Counsel in the Kansas City office of Shook, Hardy & Bacon, LLP. Ken was an Adjunct Professor at Washburn University School of Law where he taught intellectual property courses and served as an Ethics Investigator for his local bar association. Ken was also formerly associated with the Dallas offices of both Jones Day and McKool Smith, P.C. where he litigated patent, trademark, contract and other complex commercial litigation matters.
Ken is an avid golfer, who also enjoys chess, football, cycling, working out, cross country skiing, reading and traveling.
